Biography

Heyoh! I’m one of the founders of the Secret Cabal and a host of the podcast. I was born in 1977 (that’s so I dont have to update this every year on my birthday – It’s safe to say I’m in my mid 30s) and I’m a graphic and web designer here in sunny York Pennsylvania. Please forgive this website, it was my first Wordpress go – I went into it completely green. I think I bit off more than I could chew being a the sole web developer on the thing, recording and editing the podcasts and all the other crap that goes into making this thing happen.

I have a wonderful wife, Melanie who is a high school Latin teacher who I met in high school and dated three separate times before we eventually got married in November of 2010. Melanie is the best wife ever and never gives me any shit about my hobbies and all the dough I sink into miniatures and board games.

I’ve been gaming since I was a kid, but got into the hobby gaming realm back in the early ’90s when fellow Secret Cabal member (and best man at my wedding) Steve introduced me to the world of Advanced Dungeons and Dragons. It was a Dragonlance module called Wild Elves. Since then I have never stopped playing regularly. I do not believe there was ever a time that I wasn’t playing in running or preparing a new game. Of all of my hobby gaming vices, I believe roleplaying is my favorite.

I got into board gaming when I purchased Settlers of Catan at the Christmas store at the mall. As most of my hobbies, I go too far and buy game after game because I must acquire. The Secret Cabal has a name for it, it’s called ‘Acquisition Disorder’ – it’s the desperate need to buy more stuff. I started out loving Euro-Style games the most, but lately have been getting the itch to play more and more of the so-called Ameri-Trash games. I feel stupid calling them that, but that’s what people say.

I’m also a miniature collector, modeler, painter and game player. This is where my Acquisition Disorder kicks in the most. I must buy and own everything. Half the time I don’t even plan to play with some of it, I just buy it cause i must have and paint it. Warhammer Fantasy was my starter – but i quickly realized it wasn’t really for me so we tried Warmachine and Hordes. Of all the minis games I’ve played that is by far the most solid from a game mechanics standpoint, but the fluff doesn’t thrill me quite as much as Warhammer Fantasy and 40k do. So I’m playing a Chapter Space Marine Chapter right now. Also on my painting table is a Prussian fleet from Dystopian Wars. The models are unmatched for quality. A dream to paint.

I guess thats me as a gamer. I’m also somewhat of a musician. I fronted a punk rock band called Slow Andy a few years back with Steve and two other (non-gamer) buddies. Those days were some of the best in my life – and as bad as we played, we had a blast and I miss it.

Thats me. Thanks for listening and happy gaming.
